UPDATE FOR 2010/2001
Aunt Jessie has now been in the nursing home for 4 years (March 2007). Over that period she has had her 'ups and downs'. The downs were where she would be taken to the local hospital to get additional treatment that could not be provided by the carers in the home. For example she caught pneumonia and then a severe chest infection. This link will take you to the web page that I kept when Aunt Jessie was not well in 2008.
Aunt Jessie is now 92 and if you follow the link you can see her surprise 90th Birthday Party that Deirdre and I prepared for her.
Aunt Jessie's younger sister (Aunt Ethel) has had to be taken into care. Aunt Ethel is in a nursing home in Dalgety Bay. Deirdre and I visited her but her dementia is such that she could just remember me. She said "Oh your Cathies son". But that was all she could remember.
Sadly Aunt Jessie best friend, in the home, Jean passed away last year. And because 90% of the residents suffer from various forms of dementia Aunt Jessie says that she finds it difficult to have a conversation with them. Now all us relatives will know what Aunt Jessie means by that as there were times, many years ago, when Aunt Jessie used to talk all the time.
I've included a link here to the first web pages that I set up for Aunt Jessie in Late 2007 and early 2008.
